# Trend Micro VPN vs Engage

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Engage at none against Trend Micro VPN's 10. Engage also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Trend Micro VPN's advantage is ratings volume (2K vs 8) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 9 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Trend Micro VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Engage asks for nothing beyond the download.

Engage holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Trend Micro VPN has 2K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Trend Micro VPN ships an update every 2 months, Engage every 9 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
