# Trend Micro VPN vs GhostGuard

The clearest difference is monetization model: Trend Micro VPN at free with in-app purchases against GhostGuard's subscription. GhostGuard's advantage is device support (4 vs 2) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.6). On price, rating, review sentiment and ratings volume there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Trend Micro VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and GhostGuard sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Trend Micro VPN against 4.6 for GhostGuard. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.9K and 954 respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 77% of Trend Micro VPN's written reviews are positive against 82% of GhostGuard's.

Trend Micro VPN ships an update every 2 months, GhostGuard every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on October 1, 2026.
