# Trend Micro VPN vs Hone

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Hone at none against Trend Micro VPN's 10. Hone also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 2 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Trend Micro VPN's advantage is ratings volume (1.9K vs 2). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Trend Micro VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Hone asks for nothing beyond the download.

Hone holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Trend Micro VPN has 1.9K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Trend Micro VPN ships an update every 2 months, Hone every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
