# Spell It vs SpellBee

The clearest difference is rating: SpellBee at 4.5 against Spell It's 3.4. SpellBee also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 12 months) and ratings volume (3.5K vs 9). Spell It's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spell It sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and SpellBee sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SpellBee holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SpellBee has 3.5K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Spell It ships an update every 12 months, SpellBee fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
