# Scanner PDF vs ScanMaster

The clearest difference is rating: Scanner PDF at 4.6 against ScanMaster's 2.7. Scanner PDF also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (20K vs 148). ScanMaster's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 months). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scanner PDF sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and ScanMaster sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner PDF holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner PDF has 20K ratings behind it against 148, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 32% of Scanner PDF's written reviews are positive against 23% of ScanMaster's.

Scanner PDF ships an update every 3 months, ScanMaster every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
