# Scanner PDF vs SuperScan

The clearest difference is monetization model: SuperScan at free with in-app purchases against Scanner PDF's subscription. SuperScan also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months) and review sentiment (46% vs 32%). Scanner PDF's advantage is ratings volume (20K vs 1.6K). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scanner PDF sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and SuperScan sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Scanner PDF against 4.6 for SuperScan. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner PDF has 20K ratings behind it against 1.6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 32% of Scanner PDF's written reviews are positive against 46% of SuperScan's.

Scanner PDF ships an update every 3 months, SuperScan every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
