# Scanner PDF vs SCAN PDF

The clearest difference is monetization model: SCAN PDF at free with in-app purchases against Scanner PDF's subscription. SCAN PDF also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 months). Scanner PDF's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (20K vs 33). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scanner PDF sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and SCAN PDF sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Scanner PDF against 4.7 for SCAN PDF. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner PDF has 20K ratings behind it against 33, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 32% of Scanner PDF's written reviews are positive against 14% of SCAN PDF's.

Scanner PDF ships an update every 3 months, SCAN PDF every 10 days. Both last shipped on October 17, 2026.
