# Scanner PDF vs PDF Scanner

The clearest difference is monetization model: PDF Scanner at free with in-app purchases against Scanner PDF's subscription. PDF Scanner also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 3 months). Scanner PDF's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.6 vs 4.2). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scanner PDF sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and PDF Scanner sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner PDF holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner PDF has 20K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Scanner PDF ships an update every 3 months, PDF Scanner every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
