# Newbook vs Trusted Herd

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Trusted Herd at none against Newbook's 3. Trusted Herd also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and update cadence (weekly vs monthly). Newbook's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (89% vs 70%). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Newbook sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Trusted Herd asks for nothing beyond the download.

Trusted Herd holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Trusted Herd has 14K ratings behind it against 762, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 89% of Newbook's written reviews are positive against 70% of Trusted Herd's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Newbook ships an update monthly, Trusted Herd weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
