# Newbook vs CrownChat

The clearest difference is rating: CrownChat at 5.0 against Newbook's 4.5. CrownChat also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs monthly). Newbook's advantage is ratings volume (762 vs 4) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Newbook sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month and CrownChat sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CrownChat holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Newbook has 762 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Newbook ships an update monthly, CrownChat every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
