# Altimeter ∞ Elevation GPS vs ElevationCheck

The clearest difference is rating: Altimeter ∞ Elevation GPS at 4.6 against ElevationCheck's 4.2. Altimeter ∞ Elevation GPS also leads on ratings volume (1K vs 6). ElevationCheck's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 11 days) and review sentiment (63% vs 50%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Altimeter ∞ Elevation GPS sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and ElevationCheck sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Altimeter ∞ Elevation GPS holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Altimeter ∞ Elevation GPS has 1K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Altimeter ∞ Elevation GPS's written reviews are positive against 63% of ElevationCheck's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Altimeter ∞ Elevation GPS ships an update every 11 days, ElevationCheck every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
