# Stairs vs Roller Coaster

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Stairs at 24K against Roller Coaster's 241. Roller Coaster's advantage is review sentiment (80% vs 68%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Stairs against 4.5 for Roller Coaster. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Stairs has 24K ratings behind it against 241, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 68% of Stairs's written reviews are positive against 80% of Roller Coaster's.

Stairs ships an update every 3 months, Roller Coaster every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
