# Catholic Confession vs eMissal

The clearest difference is rating: eMissal at 5.0 against Catholic Confession's 4.0. eMissal also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). Catholic Confession's advantage is ratings volume (112 vs 2) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

eMissal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Catholic Confession has 112 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Catholic Confession ships an update every 4 months, eMissal every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
