# NETGEAR Armor vs MTA Shield

The clearest difference is ratings volume: NETGEAR Armor at 13K against MTA Shield's 14. NETGEAR Armor also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 8 months) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for NETGEAR Armor against 4.6 for MTA Shield. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NETGEAR Armor has 13K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two.

NETGEAR Armor ships an update every 2 months, MTA Shield every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
