# Neighbor vs Thrive Barber

The clearest difference is monetization model: Thrive Barber at free against Neighbor's free with in-app purchases. Thrive Barber also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Neighbor's advantage is ratings volume (13K vs 7) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Thrive Barber holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Neighbor has 13K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Neighbor ships an update every 2 weeks, Thrive Barber every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
