# Hotspot VPN vs WireVPN

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: WireVPN at none against Hotspot VPN's 6. WireVPN also leads on ratings volume (110K vs 9K) and chart position (#167 vs unranked). Hotspot VPN's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hotspot VPN sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. WireVPN asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Hotspot VPN against 4.6 for WireVPN. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WireVPN has 110K ratings behind it against 9K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 75% of Hotspot VPN's written reviews are positive against 69% of WireVPN's.

Hotspot VPN ships an update every 2 weeks, WireVPN every 2 months. Both last shipped on November 8, 2026.
