# Through the Word vs Scripture

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Through the Word at none against Scripture's 2. Through the Word also leads on ratings volume (5.1K vs 3) and chart position (#105 vs unranked). Scripture's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 weeks) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scripture sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per year. Through the Word asks for nothing beyond the download.

Scripture holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Through the Word has 5.1K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 88% of Through the Word's written reviews are positive against 100% of Scripture's.

Through the Word ships an update every 2 weeks, Scripture every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on November 8, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
