# PalmHD vs Authenticator

The clearest difference is rating: Authenticator at 5.0 against PalmHD's 4.0. Authenticator also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 11) and update cadence (every 2 days vs monthly). PalmHD's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (1.9K vs 2). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PalmHD sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Authenticator asks for nothing beyond the download.

Authenticator holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PalmHD has 1.9K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

PalmHD ships an update monthly, Authenticator every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
