# Social Cipher vs Faxo

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Social Cipher at none against Faxo's 21. Social Cipher also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 81%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). Faxo's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (1.8K vs 3). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Faxo sells 21 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Social Cipher asks for nothing beyond the download.

Faxo holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Faxo has 1.8K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Social Cipher's written reviews are positive against 81% of Faxo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Social Cipher ships an update every 4 months, Faxo every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
