# Malwarebytes vs Space Cleaner

The clearest difference is monetization model: Malwarebytes at free with in-app purchases against Space Cleaner's subscription. Malwarebytes also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (111K vs 3.8K). Space Cleaner's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Malwarebytes sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month and Space Cleaner sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Malwarebytes against 4.5 for Space Cleaner. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Malwarebytes has 111K ratings behind it against 3.8K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 48% of Malwarebytes's written reviews are positive against 44% of Space Cleaner's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
