# Malwarebytes vs IP Protection

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Malwarebytes at 111K against IP Protection's 9. Malwarebytes also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.3) and chart position (#38 vs unranked). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Malwarebytes sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month and IP Protection sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Malwarebytes holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Malwarebytes has 111K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of Malwarebytes's written reviews are positive against 50% of IP Protection's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Malwarebytes ships an update every 2 weeks, IP Protection every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
