# HID Reader Manager vs CheckVideo

The clearest difference is rating: CheckVideo at 4.4 against HID Reader Manager's 2.6. HID Reader Manager's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months) and review sentiment (12% vs 0%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

CheckVideo holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HID Reader Manager has 26 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 12% of HID Reader Manager's written reviews are positive against 0% of CheckVideo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HID Reader Manager ships an update every 2 months, CheckVideo every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
