# HID Reader Manager vs OPTEX Vision

The clearest difference is review sentiment: OPTEX Vision at 33% against HID Reader Manager's 12%. OPTEX Vision also leads on iOS requirement (10.0 vs 14.0). HID Reader Manager's advantage is rating (2.6 vs 2.3) and ratings volume (26 vs 3). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

HID Reader Manager holds the better App Store score, 2.6 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HID Reader Manager has 26 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 12% of HID Reader Manager's written reviews are positive against 33% of OPTEX Vision's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HID Reader Manager ships an update every 2 months, OPTEX Vision every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
