# SplitNet 2.0 vs Messenger VPN

The clearest difference is rating: Messenger VPN at 4.5 against SplitNet 2.0's 2.5. Messenger VPN also leads on ratings volume (3.6K vs 81) and review sentiment (32% vs 18%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SplitNet 2.0 sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $24.99 per month and Messenger VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Messenger VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Messenger VPN has 3.6K ratings behind it against 81, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 18% of SplitNet 2.0's written reviews are positive against 32% of Messenger VPN's.

SplitNet 2.0 ships an update every 3 months, Messenger VPN every 5 months. Both last shipped on October 16, 2026.
