# Areca Net vs Hontech OTA

The clearest difference is update cadence: Hontech OTA at every 6 months against Areca Net's every 15 months. Areca Net's advantage is iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Areca Net ships an update every 15 months, Hontech OTA every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
