# Blackboard vs Take Notes

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Blackboard at 401 against Take Notes's 72. Blackboard also leads on iOS requirement (12 vs 14.1). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Blackboard sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Take Notes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Blackboard against 4.6 for Take Notes. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Blackboard has 401 ratings behind it against 72, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 82% and 83% positive.

Blackboard ships an update every 5 months, Take Notes every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
