# The Highlands vs Detroit GP

The clearest difference is rating: The Highlands at 4.8 against Detroit GP's 3.9. The Highlands also leads on ratings volume (388 vs 15). Detroit GP's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The Highlands holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Highlands has 388 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of The Highlands's written reviews are positive against 80% of Detroit GP's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Highlands ships an update every 3 months, Detroit GP weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
