# Snap vs GIR Mobile ID

The clearest difference is rating: Snap at 4.7 against GIR Mobile ID's 3.0. Snap also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 12 months) and ratings volume (774 vs 2). GIR Mobile ID's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Snap holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Snap has 774 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Snap ships an update every 2 months, GIR Mobile ID every 12 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
