# SmartESS vs Sun Position

The clearest difference is rating: SmartESS at 2.7 against Sun Position's 1.0. SmartESS also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sun Position sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. SmartESS asks for nothing beyond the download.

SmartESS holds the better App Store score, 2.7 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SmartESS has 127 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of SmartESS's written reviews are positive against 25% of Sun Position's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
