# SmartESS vs Blue

The clearest difference is rating: SmartESS at 2.7 against Blue's 1.0. SmartESS also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (125 vs 1). Blue's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 20%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Blue sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. SmartESS asks for nothing beyond the download.

SmartESS holds the better App Store score, 2.7 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SmartESS has 125 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of SmartESS's written reviews are positive against 50% of Blue's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
