# Thor vs Calctan

The clearest difference is ads: Thor at none against Calctan's shown. Thor also leads on review sentiment (53% vs 29%) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 3 months). Calctan's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (61 vs 13). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Thor sells 23 one-off in-app purchases and Calctan sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Calctan holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 13 and 61 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of Thor's written reviews are positive against 29% of Calctan's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Thor ships an update every 6 weeks, Calctan every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
