# GPS Race Timer vs ArcticDolphin

The clearest difference is rating: GPS Race Timer at 4.5 against ArcticDolphin's 2.9. GPS Race Timer also leads on ratings volume (2.8K vs 33). ArcticDolphin's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GPS Race Timer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. ArcticDolphin asks for nothing beyond the download.

GPS Race Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GPS Race Timer has 2.8K ratings behind it against 33, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 34% of GPS Race Timer's written reviews are positive against 38% of ArcticDolphin's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GPS Race Timer ships an update every 7 months, ArcticDolphin fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
