# LAPD Devonshire vs Genasys Protect

The clearest difference is rating: LAPD Devonshire at 3.1 against Genasys Protect's 2.6. LAPD Devonshire also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.1). Genasys Protect's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (81 vs 8). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

LAPD Devonshire holds the better App Store score, 3.1 against 2.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Genasys Protect has 81 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of LAPD Devonshire's written reviews are positive against 9% of Genasys Protect's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

LAPD Devonshire ships an update every 9 months, Genasys Protect every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
