# SolaCom vs Airthings

The clearest difference is rating: Airthings at 4.4 against SolaCom's 2.5. Airthings also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (3K vs 12). SolaCom's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 17.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Airthings holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Airthings has 3K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 29% of SolaCom's written reviews are positive against 33% of Airthings's.

SolaCom ships an update every 4 months, Airthings fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
