# Crestools vs LightDrop

The clearest difference is update cadence: LightDrop at every 3 weeks against Crestools's every 4 months. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Crestools sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per year and LightDrop sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Crestools ships an update every 4 months, LightDrop every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
