# Cheap VPN vs VPN99

The clearest difference is monetization model: Cheap VPN at free with in-app purchases against VPN99's subscription. Cheap VPN also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 14.0). VPN99's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cheap VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and VPN99 sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VPN99 holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 165 and 213 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 62% of Cheap VPN's written reviews are positive against 73% of VPN99's.

Cheap VPN ships an update fortnightly, VPN99 every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on November 2, 2026.
