# Cheap VPN vs Neon VPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Cheap VPN at 62% against Neon VPN's 25%. Cheap VPN also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly) and ratings volume (164 vs 20). Neon VPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.6 vs 4.1). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cheap VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Neon VPN sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Neon VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cheap VPN has 164 ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of Cheap VPN's written reviews are positive against 25% of Neon VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Cheap VPN ships an update fortnightly, Neon VPN monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
