# Cheers Often vs Watermelon+

The clearest difference is monetization model: Cheers Often at free with in-app purchases against Watermelon+'s subscription. Cheers Often also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.6). Watermelon+'s advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (173 vs 6). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cheers Often sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Watermelon+ sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Cheers Often against 5.0 for Watermelon+. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Watermelon+ has 173 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
