# Screen Recorder vs Live Recorder

Screen Recorder and Live Recorder both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 53% of Live Recorder's written reviews are positive against 33% of Screen Recorder's. Screen Recorder's advantage is ratings volume (112K vs 4.1K). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screen Recorder sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Live Recorder sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Screen Recorder against 4.4 for Live Recorder. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Screen Recorder has 112K ratings behind it against 4.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 33% of Screen Recorder's written reviews are positive against 53% of Live Recorder's.

Screen Recorder ships an update every 2 months, Live Recorder monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
