# Land Rover Remote vs ShieldGPS

The clearest difference is monetization model: ShieldGPS at free against Land Rover Remote's subscription. ShieldGPS also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). Land Rover Remote's advantage is ratings volume (48K vs 20) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ShieldGPS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Land Rover Remote has 48K ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Land Rover Remote ships an update every 3 weeks, ShieldGPS every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
