# QC Time vs ESS 41

The clearest difference is ratings volume: ESS 41 at 3.1K against QC Time's 35. ESS 41 also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 5 months). QC Time's advantage is rating (1.7 vs 1.4) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 11.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

QC Time holds the better App Store score, 1.7 against 1.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ESS 41 has 3.1K ratings behind it against 35, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of QC Time's written reviews are positive against 3% of ESS 41's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

QC Time ships an update every 5 months, ESS 41 every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
