# Referee Watch PRO vs MatchGear

The clearest difference is price: Referee Watch PRO at Free against MatchGear's $4.99. Referee Watch PRO also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 months) and rating (4.4 vs 4.1). MatchGear's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and review sentiment (67% vs 55%). On ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Referee Watch PRO is free to download; MatchGear costs $4.99 up front. Referee Watch PRO sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. MatchGear asks for nothing beyond the download.

Referee Watch PRO holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Referee Watch PRO has 38 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Referee Watch PRO's written reviews are positive against 67% of MatchGear's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Referee Watch PRO ships an update fortnightly, MatchGear every 6 months. Both last shipped on October 16, 2026.
