# Fanlight Sync vs Smart Elfin

The clearest difference is rating: Fanlight Sync at 2.0 against Smart Elfin's 1.4. Smart Elfin's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (159 vs 4). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Fanlight Sync holds the better App Store score, 2.0 against 1.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smart Elfin has 159 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of Fanlight Sync's written reviews are positive against 5% of Smart Elfin's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Fanlight Sync ships an update every 7 months, Smart Elfin fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
