# Shep Studio vs Provo City

The clearest difference is rating: Shep Studio at 5.0 against Provo City's 3.0. Shep Studio also leads on ratings volume (68 vs 2) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). Provo City's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 8 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Shep Studio holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shep Studio has 68 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Shep Studio ships an update every 8 months, Provo City every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
