# Threema OnPrem vs EXTRA SAFE

The clearest difference is review sentiment: EXTRA SAFE at 82% against Threema OnPrem's 0%. EXTRA SAFE also leads on ratings volume (102 vs 3) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Threema OnPrem's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Threema OnPrem holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EXTRA SAFE has 102 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of Threema OnPrem's written reviews are positive against 82% of EXTRA SAFE's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Threema OnPrem ships an update weekly, EXTRA SAFE fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
