# Real Chess 3D vs Chess Royale

The clearest difference is update cadence: Chess Royale at every 5 weeks against Real Chess 3D's every 8 months. Real Chess 3D's advantage is review sentiment (74% vs 60%) and ratings volume (162K vs 20K). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Real Chess 3D sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Chess Royale sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Real Chess 3D against 4.5 for Chess Royale. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Real Chess 3D has 162K ratings behind it against 20K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 74% of Real Chess 3D's written reviews are positive against 60% of Chess Royale's.

Real Chess 3D ships an update every 8 months, Chess Royale every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
