# Microsoft Whiteboard vs Grouper

The clearest difference is rating: Grouper at 5.0 against Microsoft Whiteboard's 4.6. Grouper also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 6 weeks). Microsoft Whiteboard's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (12K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Grouper holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft Whiteboard has 12K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Microsoft Whiteboard ships an update every 6 weeks, Grouper every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
