# Preply vs MFK backstage

Preply and MFK backstage both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 53% of Preply's written reviews are positive against 0% of MFK backstage's. Preply also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (45K vs 6). MFK backstage's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MFK backstage holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Preply has 45K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of Preply's written reviews are positive against 0% of MFK backstage's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Preply ships an update weekly, MFK backstage every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
