# Preply vs QUT

The clearest difference is update cadence: Preply at weekly against QUT's every 6 weeks. Preply also leads on ratings volume (45K vs 3) and chart position (#90 vs unranked). QUT's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Preply holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Preply has 45K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of Preply's written reviews are positive against 59% of QUT's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Preply ships an update weekly, QUT every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
