# Preply vs JoyFera

The clearest difference is monetization model: JoyFera at free against Preply's free with in-app purchases. JoyFera also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). Preply's advantage is ratings volume (45K vs 1) and update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

JoyFera holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Preply has 45K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Preply ships an update weekly, JoyFera every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
